Authors Monday: Stephen king (Horror king)

Stephen King

Welcome to another author's story, where we talk about successful authors and how they became successful. Today we are focusing on Stephen King, if you're a horror story or movie lover, this name might ring a bell. Stephen king is one of the most successful horror novelists in the 1970s. It started like this: Stephen King was a school teacher and a story writer with a few short stories published in magazines but overnight he became a best selling writer with over 60 novels and 200 short stories.
In 1972, he wrote his first published novel “Carrie” and sent the manuscript to magazines, but he got rejected many times. He was overwhelmed with the whole rejection at the moment, and he threw the three-page manuscript into the dustbin. Luckily, his wife was able to find it and she read it.
She brought it back to him and told him, "I would love to know what happens in the end." This gives him more strength, and he decided to turn it into a fully fledged novel. Carrie made Stephen King one of the most successful horror writers in the world.
But it didn't stop there, most of his novels have been adapted into movies and they have grossed over $2B at the box office.

His dream had started a long time ago for him. After his father left their family, his mother took care of him and his brother, even when there were heavy financial constraints on her. Stephen King loves watching movies, and this shapes the way he told his stories.
While he was younger, he often enjoyed writing a story around a comic character and one day when he gave his story to his mother, she was fascinated with the way he wrote. Then she said the most powerful word that changed his life, "You can do a lot better than this, son if you write your own story." This became a driving force.
Sometimes in life, you need these two kinds of people in your life: someone who sees value in you when nobody else sees it, and someone who encourages you whenever you want to give up.
Stephen King has sold millions of copies of his books and still continues writing novels even at the age of 77. Showing us that writing a great story has nothing to do with age. If you'd love to read his books. You can check out his recent books like
1. Doctor Sleep
2. Never Flinch
Stephen king would say: Books are a uniquely portable magic.”
